Wood supports Woodside to achieve first gas on Greater Western Flank
Wood was contracted by Woodside to assist on the Greater Western Flank phase 2 (GWF-2) project located on the North West Shelf (NWS), offshore Australia.

Wood completed the front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design for the flowline system, and provided engineering, procurement and construction management support for the complete subsea pipeline system during the fabrication and construction stages.

Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood’s Specialist Technical Solutions business, said: “Having been involved in GWF-2 since the development phase, it is fantastic to see Woodside commence gas production. Close collaboration between Woodside and all participants has led to the project being completed more than six months ahead of schedule and $680 million under budget which is a brilliant achievement.

“Our relationship with Woodside extends over 35-years, during which time we have worked across their asset portfolio. Our involvement in GWF-2 allowed us to demonstrate our technical expertise and comprehensive understanding of complex subsea infrastructure. We currently have several other global projects on-going with Woodside and we look forward to their successful completion.”

The GWF-2 development includes eight subsea wells from six offshore fields, tied back to the existing Goodwyn A platform by a 35 km corrosion resistant (CRA) subsea pipeline, and represents the next phase of gas supply to the existing NWS project infrastructure.
