Wood Group Kenny has been awarded an $8.6 million contract by INPEX Masela, Ltd. (INPEX), a subsidiary of INPEX CORPORATION, to carry out the front end engineering and design (FEED) of the major subsea production facilities for the Abadi LNG (liquefied natural gas) project in Indonesia. The Abadi LNG project will involve the construction of a floating LNG (FLNG) plant which will produce 2.5 million tonnes per annum for the first stage of development of the Abadi gas field located in the Masela Block in Arafura Sea, Indonesia.
Wood Group Kenny in Indonesia (PT. Wood Group Indonesia), supported by the Wood Group Kenny offices in Perth and Melbourne, will perform the FEED work for a period of approximately 12 months, beginning at the end of 2012. This will involve performing a comprehensive engineering workscope for the subsea, umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) systems, including subsea structures and equipment. A further FEED contract for the FLNG facilities, a major part of this project, is expected to be awarded separately in due course.
Mr. Shunichiro Sugaya, President Director Indonesia, INPEX said, "We awarded this FEED contract to Wood Group Kenny based on their extensive subsea engineering and design capabilities, and the depth of oil & gas industry knowledge and expertise they can bring to this project, delivered through their local team in Jakarta."
Steve Wayman, CEO, Wood Group Kenny said, "We are delighted to have secured this flagship SURF project from INPEX, which enables us to extend our track record on the Subsea Systems element of the growing number of new FLNG projects worldwide. We look forward to further strengthening our relationship with INPEX along with our previous and ongoing work for them on their offshore Australia Ichthys LNG project."
