ERG and TOTAL express their satisfaction following the go-ahead obtained today
from the European Commission for the creation of TotalErg, the joint venture resulting from the merger between ERG Petroli and TOTAL Italia (press release dated 28 January 2010).

Having received clearance from the Commission, a plan will now be launched for the integration of the two Companies, allowing the joint venture to become operational starting from 1st October next.

TotalErg will become one of the largest marketing operators in Italy, with a retail market share of over 12% and fuel sales amounting to 3.4 million tonnes per year.
Wholesale market and specialty product sales will reach around 3.2 million tonnes per year, with significant market shares in diesel, lubricants, LPG and bitumen.
The Company will also be active in the refining business, with a total capacity of approximately 116,000 barrels per day, and will operate its shareholders' logistics infrastructures.

The synergies achieved by the joint venture will enable the two operators to consolidate their presence in the market and to offer their customers an increasingly wide range of products and services
