The 7th EU Refining Forum, which will take place on Thursday, 2 February 2017 in Brussels, will allow exchange of views on key issuesfor the EU refining industry including the EU ETS, low-emissions mobility and EU refining’s contribution to EU economy.
Among the speakers, Commissioner Arias Cañete, Climate and Energy, David Kerr for the Maltese Presidency and Ian Duncan, MEP and Rapporteur on the Revision of the EU ETS, will engage with the Member States, European Parliament and Commission, Industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
The 7th Refining Forum takes place at a time when the institutions are finalising their negotiations on the revision of the EU ETS, with a potential impact on the competitiveness of the European refining industry and in the middle of the very important societal and political debate on the future of the Transport in Europe.

John Cooper underlined that “this Forum will be a good opportunity to exchange views with Member States and EU Institutions on the Revision of the EU ETS and on a low-emissions mobility strategy for Europe and the role of the petroleum liquid fuels in the EU fuel mix.”
The meeting will be opened by Dominique Ristori, Director General DG Energy and chaired by Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Director in DG Energy.
It will also feature an intervention by Ian Duncan, Member of the European Parliament, Pedro Miro, CEO Cepsa, Jaime Martin Juez, Director of Technology and Sustainability at Repsol, Allard Castelein, CEO ofthe Port of Rotterdam, and David Kerr representing the Maltese Presidency. Other speakers at the meeting include Laszlo Varro chief Economist at the IEA, Rolf Diemer from DG MOVE and John Cooper, Director General FuelsEurope.
The EU Refining Forum will take place on 2 February 2017 at the Charlemagne Building in Brussels, starting at 9.00.
