Le terminal est un FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) "Golar Igloo" affrété par KNPC (Kuwait National Petroleum Company) pour une période de 5 années par depuis mars 2014.

Le 30 mars 2016, Qatargas a signé un contrat avec Kuwait Petroleum pour la fourniture de 0,5Mt de GNL pendant 5 ans au terminal de regazéification de Mina Al-Ahmadi LNG.
