TECNIMONT (MAIRE) attends the official signing ceremony of Tengiz gas separation complex in Kazakhstan
-The ceremony was attended by senior company executives from KMG PetroChem, TECNIMONT and its consortium partner, in the presence of Kazakh government officials
-This project further strengthens MAIRE’s footprint in Central Asia, a strategic area where TECNIMONT is also developing the Silleno petrochemical complex, which will be fed by the gas processed at the Tengiz gas separation facility

The official signing ceremony of the previously awarded[1]Tengiz Gas Separation Complex (GSC) project has been held today at KMG PetroChem headquarters, in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan. The ceremony was attended by representatives of KMG PetroChem and MAIRE’s subsidiary TECNIMONT, which is leading the consortium that is developing the project.

The Tengiz Gas Separation Complex (GSC) project’s scope of work includes engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning works. TECNIMONT will be mainly responsible for the Engineering, Procurement and Commissioning.

Completion is expected by the first quarter of 2029. Once completed, the gas processed by the GSC will feed the Silleno petrochemical plant (2nd phase production - polyethylene), another project currently being executed by TECNIMONT in the region.

KMG PetroChem, a fully owned subsidiary of Kazakhstan’s O&G national company KazMunayGas, leads petrochemical development projects across the country. Both the GSC and the Sileno petrochemical complex are pioneering initiatives in the country also in terms of scale and technology, as this is the first time that projects of this kind and magnitude are implemented in Kazakhstan. The GSC is designed to recover at least 98% of ethane from dry gas, while the Silleno complex is expected to deliver high-quality petrochemical products.

Alessandro Bernini, Chief Executive Officer of MAIRE, commented: “We are honored to take part in this landmark initiative with KMG Petrochem. The Tengiz Gas Separation Complex represents a strategic milestone for us, reinforcing our long-term commitment to Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region. This project not only showcases our technological and execution capabilities but also accelerates Kazakhstan’s industrial development through next-generation, large-scale gas and petrochemical plants”.
