- The ceremony held at the Tengiz Gas Separation Complex has officially started the project works at the presence of local authorities and companies’ representatives
- Around 400 Kazakh companies across different sectors participated to a new Local Content in the GSC Project Forum hosted by Tecnimont and CCIC in collaboration with PetroCouncil to engage local businesses and stakeholders and support local community development
TECNIMONT (MAIRE) attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the Tengiz Gas Separation Complex (GSC) project in the Atyrau Region at the presence of local authorities and companies’ representatives and kicked-off the Local Content in GSC Project Forum addressed to the local industry to be involved in the project’s activities.
The Tengiz Gas Separation Complex (GSC) is developed by KMGPetrochem, a subsidiary of KazMunaiGas (KMG) JSC National Company, which develops O&G and chemical projects. The scope of the work includes engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning works, with Tecnimont mainly responsible for engineering, procurement, and commissioning.
The facility is designed to recover at least 98% of ethane from dry gas, and its output will feed the second phase of the Silleno petrochemical complex, focused on polyethylene production - another major project being executed by Tecnimont.
The Tengiz and Silleno projects mark a significant milestone for Kazakhstan, as it involves technologies and scale never implemented in the country and are seen as pioneering efforts that will strengthen the national petrochemical sector.
As a further confirmation of the project’s strategic importance, KMG PetroChem, Tecnimont and CCIC[1], in collaboration with PetroCouncil (Kazakhstan Oil & Gas Association), launched the “Local Content in the GSC Project” in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. The event, which is addressed to the local supply chain, follows a similar forum held last September for the Silleno project. This edition saw the participation of about 400 potential local suppliers, local authorities and representatives of the organizing entities and the consortium partner. The program featured targeted workshops, seminars, and networking sessions, equipping participants with essential tools and knowledge to thrive in their respective sectors. These efforts contribute to the broader development of the Atyrau community.
Alessandro Bernini, CEO of MAIRE commented: “This edition of the “Local Content in GSC Project Forum” highlights the significance of ICV programs for both partners and the industrial sector. The collaboration with PetroCouncil, recently joined by Tecnimont KZ, illustrates the benefits of integrating with the local market and promoting economic development”.
