Sval Energi : Dvalin field starts production
Sval Energi has started production from the Dvalin field together with operator Wintershall Dea and partner Petoro.

The Dvalin gas field is located in the Norwegian Sea and is tied into the Heidrun platform. Gas from Dvalin is sent to the Heidrun platform where it is processed. From there, most of the gas is transported via the Polarled pipeline to the Nyhamna plant at Aukra for export to the European market.

CEO Nikolai Lyngø in Sval Energi said: “We have achieved a safe production start and I am glad that we now can export gas from Dvalin to Europe.

”Dvalin is a good example of how we implement our growth strategy to become a significant player on the Norwegian continental shelf. We explore in mature areas and connect discoveries to existing infrastructure. This is efficient and good utilization of nearby installations.”

Dvalin North being developed

On 13 December 2022, a Plan for Development and Operations (PDO) of the Dvalin North gas field was submitted to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. The PDO was approved 29 June 2023. With recoverable reserves of approximately eighty-four million barrels of oil equivalent, Dvalin North was the largest discovery in Norway in 2021. Dvalin North is planned to be connected directly to Dvalin.

Lyngø said: “Together with our partners we have been able to mature this discovery quickly. Dvalin North is a gas field, and our goal is to have production start in 2026. This will support Norway’s role as a dependable supplier of natural gas to Europe.”

Sval has a 10% owner share in the Dvalin field. Wintershall Dea is operator with 55% and Petoro is partner with 35%.
