Spirit Energy: Oil discovery in the North Sea
Spirit Energy is partner in a new oil discovery in the Norwegian North Sea. The discovery, called Lille Prinsen, is currently estimated to contain 15–35 million barrels of recoverable oil equivalent (mmboe).

Marianne Bruvoll, exploration manager at Spirit Energy, said: “We are very pleased to announce a new discovery that we expect to be commercial. The drilling results also indicate further potential in the area.”

The Lille Prinsen well is located in Production Licence 167, 200 kilometres west of Stavanger.

An additional discovery with very good reservoir quality was also found over the main discovery, but the volume is yet to be evaluated.

The well also appraised a gas discovery made in 2004 called Verdandi. The estimate of 4–11 mmboe recoverable is maintained and further work will determine whether these two shallow reservoirs can be commercially developed.

Ms Bruvoll said: “This discovery is in a core area in the North Sea for Spirit Energy, and the full potential in the licence is yet to be determined.”

The PL 167 partnership consists of Spirit Energy Norway 20 % (1), Equinor Energy AS 60 % (1) (operator) and Lundin Norway AS 20 %.

(1) Transfer of ownership interests subject to government approval.
