Socar: New agreement on Oil Refinery reconstruction
On March 7, the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and the joint venture SOCAR-KBR signed a project management contract (PMC) for the development of reconstruction and modernization of the refinery.

Rovnag Abdullayev, SOCAR President, Jan Egil Braendeland, KBR President, Engineering & Construction for the Europe, Eurasia & Africa (EEA) region and other officials attended the signing ceremony.

In his welcoming speech, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev spoke about the reconstruction work implemented in the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and said the project aimed at the modernization of current refinery units and construction of new ones for starting production of oil products within Euro-5 standards. The reconstruction project will continue until 2019-2020 and the joint venture SOCAR-KBR was involved as a project management contractor because of its extensive experience in this sphere.

Jan Egil Braendeland, KBR President, Engineering & Construction for the Europe, Eurasia & Africa (EEA) region, member of SOCAR-KBR board of directors, said they were planning to organize an integrated project management team (IPMT) consisting of SOCAR-KBR and SOCAR specialists. He said SOCAR-KBR would provide supervision over all phases of the project and support SOCAR in management of contractors involved in these phases. Then Elman Ismayilov, Director, Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and Jan Egil Braendeland, KBR President, Engineering & Construction for the Europe, Eurasia & Africa (EEA) region signed the contract.
