Signing of an EPC contract between the SONATRACH/PTTEP Association and Petrojet/Arkad JSC Consortium for the development of Hassi Bir Rekaiz field
Under the framework of their partnership operating on the « Hassi Bir Rekaiz » field, SONATRACH and the Thai company « PTTEP (PTT Exploration and Production) », signed, today, an EPC contract (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) with the consortium including the Egyptian company Petrojet and the Italian company Arkad JSC, launching thus the second phase of the development project of this field located in the extreme north of Berkine Basin, administratively attached to wilayas of El Oued and Ouargla.

The signing ceremony, organized at the Headquarters of SONATRACH, took place with the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed ARKAB, the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Mr. Karim Ibrahim Ali BADAWI, and also the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of SONATRACH, Mr. Nour Eddine DAOUDI, as well as the representatives of the companies in charge of the project.

This EPC contract concerns the construction of a new unit for crude oil processing with a capacity of 31500 barrels per day, including installations for treatment of associated gas and production waters, in addition to related facilities. This phase will permit to increase production capacity and improve treatment efficiency, thus contributing to boost Algeria’s export capacity and strengthen its position as a major reliable supplier in the region.

The development contract for « Hassi Bir Rekaiz » field is part of SONATRACH strategy aiming at increasing its hydrocarbon capacities through balanced partnerships combining national skills and international expertise. Through this agreement, SONATRACH reasserts also its commitment to valorizing its energy resources, thus, contributing to create value for national economy and underpin a sustainable development.

During this Ceremony, SONATRACH and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) have also signed a Framework Agreement on cooperation in the field of crude petroleum and petroleum products marketing.

This fixed-term Agreement will allow both parties to identify, examine and implement opportunities for marketing Algerian and Egyptian crude petroleum and petroleum products

The signing of this Agreement between SONATRACH and EGPC consolidates the close cooperation between SONATRACH and Egyptian Companies in hydrocarbons field and reflects the deep bilateral relationships between Algeria and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
