SENER, as part of the joint venture TS LNG together with Techint, has obtained the taking-over certificate for the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminal located in the port of Zeebrugge (Bruges, Belgium) from Fluxys LNG N.V./ S.A.
Fluxys LNG awarded the project for expanding the terminal to the TS LNG consortium in which SENER has carried out work wich is typically performed in turnkey contracts, including the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the plant.
The work consisted of the construction and assembly of all the parts for a second jetty and its connection to the existing LNG terminal. The new facility is capable of loading and unloading LNG carriers of a wide range of sizes, accepting vessels from 2000 m3 to 217,000 m3. This second jetty will give the end client of the Zeebrugge plant the capacity for ship-to-ship loading, also allowing the supply of LNG as fuel for vessels.
With the taking-over certificate of the plant, SENER solidifies its position as a leader in turnkey engineering and construction projects for liquefied natural gas regasification plants, following its successful collaboration on previous projects such as the Dunkirk terminal in France and the Gate terminal in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Gate terminal is an international milestone project in the European gas sector, one of the Netherlands’ largest energy projects and an international technological showcase. It was selected as the “2011 Project of the Year” by the ECI (European Construction Institute) and as the “Liquefied Natural Gas Project of the Year” in the 2012 European Gas Conference Awards.
