SENER and Ros Roca have been awarded a contract for the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant in Bolivia
Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) has awarded the SENER-Ros Roca consortium, led by SENER, a contract to design and build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the town of Rio Grande (Bolivia), which will produce 210 tons per day and provide power supply to 140,000 households in 25 nearby villages.

Within the consortium, SENER, a private engineering and technology group, will carry out all plant engineering activities, being also in charge for project management, procurement and construction, as well as for construction and commissioning management. The plant is scheduled to begin operations in the second half of 2014.

This plant strengthens SENER’s position in the gas sector in Latin America, after also winning the regasification plant project in Escobar, Argentina, which is to be added to other international project references such as the European projects for the construction of the Terminal Gate regasification plants in Holland and the two contracts in Dunkerque, France, to be developed by SENER under the EPC modality as a member of TS LNG consortium. This proven experience in LNG projects was crucial for the awarding of this contract to the SENER-Ros Roca consortium, as declared by YPFB itself.
