Samsung Engineering signs Algeria TIMIMOUN Gas project
Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd. signed the Algeria Timimoun Field Development project worth $800 million USD with Groupement Timimoun (GTIM), a joint venture between Sonatrach, Total and Cepsa.

The signing ceremony was held in Algiers, the capital of Algeria, with the attendance of Samsung Engineering’s President & CEO Mr. Park Choong-Heum and Sonatrach’s President & CEO Mr. Abdelhamid ZERGUINE.

The Timimoun Field Development project is located 800km southwest of Algiers. Samsung Engineering is responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and pre-commissioning on a lump-sum-turn-key basis to build a 180km pipeline and a Central Processing Facility (CPF) with a capacity of 177 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). The project is expected to reach its completion in 2017.

Samsung Engineering was the only Korean company selected for this project in the pool of top European and Japanese EPC firms. The company has proved its expertise in oil and gas plant projects with a strong track record in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Choong Heum Park, President and CEO of Samsung Engineering, commented: “Our accumulated experience in the oil and gas sector in MENA led to this opportunity to work with Groupement Timimoun. With our commitment to safety for the project and environment, we will execute and complete this project successfully and expect to deepen our footprint in Africa.”
