Chiyoda Corporation, one of Japan’s leading engineering and construction firms, announces that its subsidiary in Qatar, Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC (“Chiyoda Almana”), has recently been awarded a contract by RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) for the engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) for the Onshore Flow Assurance Project.
The scope of the project consists of onshore storage, pumping and loading facilities that will pump mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) through a high pressure pipeline system to eight RasGas and three Qatargas offshore wellhead platforms to prevent the formation of hydrates. The project includes MEG transfer pumps and facilities to load road tankers that will supply MEG to the RasGas, Qatargas and Barzan onshore facilities, and the capability to load marine vessels to transport MEG to offshore back-up tanks on the wellhead platforms. The same berth will also be used to unload MEG from chemical supply tankers.

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) is a Qatari joint stock company established in 2001 by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil RasGas Inc. RasGas acts the operating company and on behalf of the owners of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects RL, RL (II) and RL 3 (Project Owners). RasGas currently operates the Ras Laffan Helium plant which was established in 2003 and came on stream in 2005. The plant extracts, purifies and liquefies helium from the North Field. The second helium plant entered production in June 2013 bringing the total liquid Helium production capacity to 1.96 Bscf per year.
