Together with partner Sval Energi and operator Wintershall Dea, Petoro has submitted a plan for development and operation (POD) to the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy for Dvalin North gas field in the Norwegian Sea. The development will be connected to the Heidrun platform via a bottom frame on the existing Dvalin and will increase Norwegian gas exports to Europe.
"Dvalin North is not the largest asset in Petoro's portfolio, but it will still make a very important contribution to maintaining our high level of gas production" said /B>Executive Vice President Licence and Technology in Petoro, Kjell Morisbak Lund during the ceremony on Tuesday December 13th. He emphasized how important this is in these times where the value and importance of a stable energy supply is greater than ever.
Dvalin North was the largest discovery on the NCS in 2021. The POD submission is a clear example that discoveries close to existing infrastructure can quickly be developed into field developments.
The partners in Dvalin North will invest NOK 8 billion in the development of the discovery. This includes drilling three production wells from a single subsea framework, 10 km north of the existing Dvalin field. Production from Dvalin is scheduled to start within the next few months. Start-up of Dvalin North is planned for the end of 2026. Wintershall Dea has a 55% stake, Petoro 35% and Sval Energi AS 10%.
