Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., through PDVSA Gas, began drilling SRA-3, the first non-associated gas well, located in San Ramón field, San Francisco municipality, Zulia state. Initial production for this year will be 3.57 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
PDVSA Vice President of Gas, César Triana, accompanied by PDVSA Gas Board of Directors, announced that the SRA-3 well will produce 45 to 50 MMSCFD over the next ten years to supply Zulia state’s internal market. Any excess gas potentially will be shipped to Colombia.
Under the National Gasification Plan, this production volume will be shipped, specifically, to Zulia state’s West Coast domestic gas distribution system. It will benefit over 90,000 families and strengthen the industrial sector in western Venezuela.
San Ramón field has three reservoirs: Boscán Inferior, Arena Superior and Ramillete. They are currently in the certification and reserve exploration phase
PDVSA Gas, together with the Socialist Institute of Fishing and Aquaculture (Insopesca), Corpoelec (a state-owned electricity operator), and the Mayor's Office of San Francisco and Planimara, have reached out to neighboring communities and established an agricultural and livestock development plan in Mashaler, La Perseverancia and Jobo Alto areas.
Triana spoke about PDVSA Gas social endeavors. “We are addressing the needs of communities following the Point and Circle which Commander Chávez taught us, supporting the agricultural, livestock, electric and gas development of the Mashaler, La Perseverancia and Jobo Alto areas. The communities have expressed their gratitude and accompany us in these joint efforts for the Good Living of the People”.
In a second phase, PDVSA Gas plans to drill the SRA-4, SR-5 and SRA-6 wells to add 10 MMSCFD and 45 MMSCFD in the long term.
Great historical objectives of the Homeland Plan Act -legacy of Commander Hugo Chávez- are being met: "to defend, expand and consolidate the most precious asset that we have taken back after 200 years: national independence”, which is evidenced by the development of Venezuela’s gas belt driven by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
