OMV Norge has been awarded 5 exploration licenses in the APA 2017 award (Awards in Pre-defined Areas) by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE).
Three of the licenses are located in the North Sea and two are located in the Norwegian Sea. OMV Norge was nominated as operator for three of these licenses. The award announcement took place during the Sandefjord conference by the Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Terje Søviknes.
A total of 75 exploration licenses was awarded in this APA-round and are distributed over the North Sea (45), the Norwegian Sea (22) and the Barents Sea (8). In this license round, 34 different oil companies were awarded ownership interests in one or more licenses. 19 of these companies is offered one or more operatorships. The licenses are awarded with work-program commitments.
The APA licensing rounds cover the most explored and matured areas on the Norwegian shelf.
