NABUCCO Gas Pipeline International GmbH has announced the launch of the pre-qualification process for steel pipe producers for its 1320 km, 48” diameter gas pipeline.

The announcement, which was submitted to the European Journal on 31 January 2013, requests potential suppliers to apply for the pre-qualification phase.

Pre-qualification precedes the launch of a tender and allows highly complex projects such as NABUCCO to identify suppliers meeting the project’s needs. Interested suppliers are requested to visit the following link for more information:

The launch of this pre-qualification process is yet another step towards ensuring that NABUCCO is ready to meet the gas delivery schedules of the Shah Deniz Consortium. The project, which is now in its advanced stage of development, announced last week the commencement of engineering design works for the 48” diameter pipeline with SAIPEM.

The NABUCCO West pipeline is planned to take Caspian Region gas from the Turkish-Bulgarian border via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary to the Central European Gas Hub at Baumgarten. As a central component of the Southern Gas Corridor, NABUCCO West is ideally placed to diversify gas supply to over 500 million potential customers in the growing economies of South Eastern Europe as well as onward into Western Europe.
