Naftogaz discusses boosting Ukrainian gas production with UK Embassy
Naftogaz Group's Acting Chairman of the Executive Board, Roman Chumak, met with U.K. Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Harris in Kyiv on March 19, 2025, to discuss Ukraine’s energy sector, preparations for the 2025/2026 heating season, and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Chumak highlighted Naftogaz’s efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security despite ongoing Russian attacks on critical infrastructure.

We are grateful to the UK for its consistent support of Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector. This assistance is invaluable. Strong partnerships are essential to Ukraine’s resilience and energy stability,” Chumak said.

He noted that Naftogaz is interested in partnering with British firms to increase domestic gas production.

Ambassador Harris assured Naftogaz of the UK’s support and acknowledged its pivotal role in maintaining Ukraine’s energy security.

Naftogaz is a heroic company operating under extraordinary conditions to ensure Ukraine's energy security. The United Kingdom remains a steadfast partner and friend to Ukraine, which continues to endure relentless enemy aggression," said Martin Harris.

The meeting was also attended by Christopher Metz, Senior Manager of the Resilience and Energy Security Program; Pavlo Sorokin, Trade and Investment Officer; and Tetiana Temniuk, Energy Advisor.

Naftogaz representatives included Dmytro Abramovych, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer; Yevhen Kalinin, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer; Sergiy Glazunov, Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer; and Maryna Miroshnychenko, Acting Director of Foreign Economic Relations and Partnership Development.
