On August 1, the Myanmar section of Myanmar-China Oil and Gas Pipeline started welding. The commencement ceremony, attended by Chinese consular-general Tang Ying, was held in Mandalay.
Myanmar-China Oil and Gas Pipeline starts from Myanmar’s Kyaukryu and enters China at Ruili in Yunnan Province. The gas pipeline will extend across Yunnan, Guizhou, Chongqing, and Guangxi. The oil Pipeline is designed to transport 22 million tons of oil per year, and the gas pipeline is designed to transport 10-13 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
The pipeline will play an important role in relieving energy shortage and improving energy structure in southwestern China, it will also help secure clean energy supply, promote economic development and protect the environment in the local area.
