Lukoil commissions facility in Bulgaria to process heavy residues
OAO LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov and Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov attended the ceremonial opening, in Burgas today, of a complex to process heavy residues on the territory of the LUKOIL Neftochim Burgas Refinery. The new facility consists of the main unit to hydrocrack sludge, with an annual capacity of 2.5 million tons, and of a number of auxiliary units.

The new processing complex will raise the efficiency of refining through increased production of light fuels which have high added value. The refining depth will reach 90 percent.

The energy efficiency will also grow, while lower emissions of greenhouse gases will produce a significant positive environmental impact

The new facility will turn out high-quality petroleum products (fuel gas, gasoline, diesel fuel and vacuum gasoil), all compliant with the European Union’s most stringent requirements.
