International drilling contractor, KCA Deutag, has returned to the UK onshore drilling market by signing a drilling operations contract for its T-61 land rig with Rathlin Energy (UK) Ltd.
The contract is for the drilling of two firm wells in East Yorkshire, with operations beginning in April and expected to be completed in Q3 2013.
It is expected that the UK drilling market will be facing an increased demand for drilling rigs in the coming years, driven by the government support of oil and gas projects.
Andy Hendry, President, Land Operations at KCA Deutag, said: “We are encouraged by the opportunities available here and are extremely pleased to be working with Rathlin Energy (UK) Ltd on this project. We look forward to operating in the UK onshore market, and hope that this project and the reputation we have built internationally will aid us to explore further opportunities here in the UK.”
