JDR invests in next generation of subsea technology
JDR, the leading UK-based supplier of subsea umbilicals and power cables to the offshore energy industry, has unveiled a state-of-the-art horizontal lay-up machine (HLM) at its Hartlepool manufacturing facility. The HLM will enable JDR to provide the next generation of reliable and safe subsea connectivity to the oil, gas and renewables sectors.

JDR has installed the HLM – the biggest in the UK and second largest in the world – for subsea umbilicals. The technology will provide increased manufacturing capacity and enhance solutions to clients’ operational challenges in particular for complex steel tube and power umbilicals.

The HLM is part of JDR’s ongoing Hartlepool expansion to better service its growing oil, gas and renewables client base and give JDR the increased capacity to be the partner of choice across the offshore energy industry.

David Currie, CEO of JDR, comments: “We’re proud to be leading the way in subsea technology innovation. The HLM will nearly double our production capacity. We’re committed to offering unrivalled technical expertise to design, test and deliver the next generation of subsea technology to the global offshore energy industry.”

“The HLM will enable us to enhance our capabilities to manufacture steel, thermoplastic and hybrid umbilicals for complex, future subsea projects.”

Around 70 per cent of global subsea developments now require steel tube umbilicals, which link subsea product systems and remote control, power, communications and chemical supply.

About JDR

JDR is a world-class provider of subsea technologies and services connecting the global offshore energy industry. Our flexible and innovative technologies enable vital control and power delivery for both the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors.
