Gazprom Neft produces 100-millionth tonne of oil at Yuzhno-Priobskoye field
Gazpromneft-Khantos, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, has confirmed the production of the 100-millionth tonne of oil at its Yuzhno-Priobskoye field. Current production levels have been achieved thanks to the construction of more than 100 field facilities and implementation of the latest production technologies. More than 3,600 wells have been drilled at the field since its commissioning. Total productive well-stock currently amounts to 2,000 wells, supporting production volumes of 32,000 tonnes per day.

While the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field was first discovered in 1982, its complex underlying geology resulted in it only being developed since 1999, at which time annual production amounted to only 450 tonnes of oil per year. The Yuzhno-Priobskoye field is currently the most significant contributor to Gazpromneft-Khantos’ total output of hydrocarbons, and is the company’s most significant production asset. The field’s geological reserves total 1.6 billion tonnes of oil, of which initial recoverable reserves amount to 451 million tonnes, the majority of which remaining stock comprises hard-to-recover reserves. Field deposits are characterised by their complex structure, geological variation, irregularity, and low reservoir permeability and porosity.

Sergey Doktor, CEO, Gazpromneft-Khantos, commented: “The Yuzhno-Priobskoye field is a unique natural feature. It is for precisely that reason that Gazprom Neft is using this location to test innovative exploration and production technologies which are, already, being successfully utilised in many of the company’s subsidiaries. Thanks to ongoing work on optimising the development of residual reserves, in adjusting traditional approaches to the development of marginal low-productivity parts of the field, in the application of cutting-edge systems in drilling and well completion, and the widespread application of energy-efficient fluid recovery systems, we are bringing an ever more significant proportion of hard-to-recover reserves at the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field into production.”

About the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field

One of Gazprom Neft’s key assets, and one of the company’s largest and most promising fields, the southern licence block of the Yuzhno-Priobskoye field covers at total area of 2,300 square kilometres, located in the Khanty-Mansiysky district, 60 kilometres from the city of Khanty-Mansiysk.

Established in 2005, Gazpromneft-Khantos is now one of Gazprom Neft’s key E&P assets, responsible for geological prospecting and field development throughout the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Tomsk Oblast.
