A consortium of eight companies, the Skanled Project Group, is making preparations for the possible construction of a new offshore gas pipeline from the west of Norway to East Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. The project group has approached Gasunie, as a major player in the European gas transmission sector, to take part in the preparatory phase of this project. Gasunie has reacted positively to this because this possible new supply route could contribute towards the further development of the northwest European gas roundabout. Over the coming months, the consortium, under the leadership of Gassco, will investigate whether a final investment decision is feasible. One important condition is that the Norwegian government agrees to the plans.
