In view of the logistical needs imposed by the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Marketing Plan, especially as regards LNG from Sabine Pass (Louisiana, USA), GAS NATURAL FENOSA has decided to study the possibility of hiring a fifth LNG carrier, under a twenty-year lease, that would join the other four hired last September from the shipping companies “Knutsen” and “Naviera Elcano”.
The "third-generation" LNG carrier would be a 176,000-tonne ship, similar to the ones recently hired by GAS NATURAL FENOSA, which will decide on the shipping company it will be working with on this project. The latter, depending on the time and circumstances, will contract the building of the corresponding ship with shipyard selected.
Given the clear interest shown by Navantia, GAS NATURAL FENOSA will be instructing the shipping company chosen to contact that shipyard with the intention of giving Navantia sufficient time to present a full, competitive and firm offer to build the new ship.
