Foster Wheeler AG announced that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract for two Terrace Wall™ hydrogen reformers by GS Engineering & Construction Corporation, which is acting on behalf of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) consortium for the US$9 billion Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical (NSRP) complex to be constructed in the Nghi Son Economic Zone, Thanh Hoa Province, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The Foster Wheeler contract value was not disclosed and will be included in the company’s fourth-quarter 2013 bookings.
Foster Wheeler will design and supply the reformers, which will be designed to be capable of producing a combined total of 145,000 tonnes of hydrogen per annum. The hydrogen reformers will be key components within the Nghi Son Refinery hydrogen manufacturing unit. Foster Wheeler was awarded the license package for the hydrogen production unit directly by NSRP in 2010. Delivery of the reformers is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2015.
“This major award by the NSRP EPC consortium demonstrates confidence in Foster Wheeler’s technology in hydrogen reforming and our ability to design to exacting specifications,” said Umberto della Sala, Chief Operating Officer of Foster Wheeler AG. “Our Terrace Wall reformer, as well as being extremely efficient and reliable, is very well suited to the modular execution strategy adopted for this hydrogen unit. Large sections of the reformers will be designed to be delivered fully assembled, maximizing offsite activity and delivering schedule benefits. Our Fired Heater groups in Reading, United Kingdom and Milan, Italy will combine their expert resources to execute this important project.”
