ENDESA has signed contracts to supply 62 GWh of power to four large industrial groups in the Netherlands. The maturity of the Dutch electricity market, in terms of its liberalisation and competition, makes it very attractive for ENDESA. This is the result of the creation of organised electricity markets and interconnections with its neighbouring countries.
ENDESA’s commercial base in the Netherlands is in Amsterdam. The commercial effort made in the last few months of 2007 has resulted in contracts to supply 62 GWh to major industrial groups in the country.
The maturity of the Dutch market in terms of liberalisation and competition makes it highly attractive. Moreover, interconnections with neighbouring countries and the creation of organised electricity markets such as the APX and Endex enable ENDESA to purchase energy for its customers in a flexible and transparent manner.
In 2007, ENDESA established itself as one of the leading European suppliers of large customers with a sales volume of 4,017GWh. In 2008 ENDESA has added offices in Amsterdam to its existing offices in Lisbon, Porto, Paris and Frankfurt, increasing its capacity to provide global supply services to customers in Europe.
Finally, it is worth noting that ENDESA was one of the first European electric utilities to roll out commercial operations in liberalised energy markets, thereby providing a global supply solution to the European customers that it already serves in Spain.
