Endesa France already held 45% of Soprolif, the French company which owns a circulating fluid bed plant with installed capacity of 250 MW at the Provence site. Endesa France has acquired 55% of Soprolif from EDEV which is in charge of EDF’s development activities. Endesa France already held 45% of Soprolif which owns a circulating fluid bed plant with installed capacity of 250 MW at the Gardanne site. This deal now makes Endesa France the outright owner of the facility.
The circulating fluid bed plant owned by Soprolif (Société Provençale de Lit Fluidisé) is located on the same site as one of the groups of the Provence coal-fired station owned by Endesa France.
This deal gives Endesa France outright control of the facility and will enable it to optimise the “turbine – boiler” unit in addition to simplifying its legal structure and management.
In addition, Endesa France and EDF have signed a five year (2008-2012) electricity supply agreement that locks in sales of Soprolif’s output over the period.
In addition to the Provence power station with installed capacity of 868 MW, Endesa France has coal-fired facilities at Emile Huchet (1,086 MW), Hornaing (253 MW) and Lucy (270 MW). The company also plans to expand its CCGT capacity by over 3,000 MW.
