ENDESA contracts SIEMENS to build two CCGT plants with capacity of 860 MW on its Emile Huchet site in France
Investment will amount to around EUR 470 million. The construction of these facilities will boost Endesa France’s existing installed capacity by 30%.The two new plants fall under the framework of Endesa France’s Industrial Plan, with scope for developing 2,000 MW of additional capacity in France. The project is the largest of its kind in France.

Endesa France has awarded construction of the two French CCGTs to be built on the Émile Huchet site owned by Endesa’s French subsidiary to Siemens.

The two plants, entailing investment of Euro 470 million, will have aggregate capacity of 860 MW and will be built on available land at the Emile Huchet plant site in north-eastern France.

These are the first CCGTs to be built by Endesa in France. They will increase Endesa France’s current installed capacity by 30%.

Siemens will build the plants, together with CMI (Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie), company specialized in waste-heat boilers.

To ensure gas supply to the plants, a 36-kilometre long gas pipeline will be built to connect the main pipeline to the plant. The pipeline will entail investment of Euro 24 million.

Installation of the two CCGTs will generate significant employment, with an average of 300 people on site throughout the estimated two-year building time.

The two new plants fall under the framework of Endesa France’s Industrial Plan, with scope for developing 2,000 MW of additional capacity in France.

The next step is the construction of a 430 MW CCGT at the Hornaig plant site in northern France, a site owned by Endesa France. This facility has already obtained the pertinent construction permit as has the site at Lucy.
