Enagás and Gasunie sign an agreement to develop decarbonization projects and value chains
  - The Spanish and Dutch operators formalize an agreement to analyze joint projects and the sustainable management of CO2, as well as the storage and transport of decarbonized molecules, such as green hydrogen and green ammonia, from Spain to the Netherlands

The CEO of Enagás, Arturo Gonzalo, and the CEO of Gasunie, Willemien Terpstra, signed today in Groningen (Netherlands) a Memorandum of Understanding for the development of integrated logistics chains between Spain and the Netherlands, aimed at advancing European decarbonization goals.

The agreement reached by these two gas infrastructure companies and promoters of renewable hydrogen infrastructure in Europe will allow the joint development of the necessary analysis and feasibility studies to promote a logistics chain that enables sustainable CO2 management and the transport of decarbonized molecules such as green hydrogen and green ammonia.

The projects to be developed, which are subject to regulatory development, include the transport and storage of CO2 from Spain to the Netherlands, including biogenic CO2 resulting from the decomposition, digestion, or combustion of biomass with guarantees of origin, which can be used for the production of methanol and the export of ammonia and other decarbonized molecules through the development of multimolecule terminals. Additionally, the agreement includes the identification of potential offtakers in industrial sectors such as fertilizers or for the mobility of the maritime sector.

The Memorandum of Understanding also includes the definition of a specific action plan for the coming months with periodic meetings between the parties.
