Transocean Norway Operations AS with the drilling rig Transocean Arctic is awarded the contract to drill production wells at the Dvalin field in the Norwegian Sea.
Drilling of the four production wells will start mid-2019 and the operation is planned to last 340 days. The contract value is 68 million US Dollars. The agreement also opens up for using the rig for additional wells.
“Drilling the production wells will be an important step towards production start of the Dvalin field in autumn 2020. DEA is very satisfied with having Transocean on board for the drilling operations,” says Hans-Hermann Andreae, Managing Director of DEA Norge.
The Dvalin field is the first operated field development project for DEA Deutsche Erdoel AG in Norway.
About the Dvalin field
The Dvalin field is located in PL435, blocks 6507/7/9 and 6507/8 in the Norwegian Sea, approximately 15 kilometres north west of Heidrun and 290 kilometres from Nyhamna in Mid-Norway. Recoverable resources are 18.2 billion standard cubic meters of natural gas.
Dvalin will be developed with a four wells subsea template, which is tied back to the Heidrun platform. At Heidrun, the gas will be partly processed in a new module, before the gas is transported via the new Polarled pipeline, going to the Nyhamna onshore gas terminal. At Nyhamna, the gas will be processed and transported to the European market.
DEA Norge is operator of licence PL435 with a 55% share. Partners are Petoro (35%) and Edison (10%).
