David gas-condensate discovery by Det norske and TOTAL
Total, operator of production licence 102C, has made a small gas-condensate discovery in well 25/5-7 on the David prospect. Det norske holds 10 percent in the discovery. The well is located approximately 20 kilometres north-east of the Heimdal field.

The primary target for the well was the Brent formation of middle Jurassic age with a secondary target in the underlying Statfjord formation of lower Jurassic age.

Gas-condensate was found in the Brent formation. The Statfjord formation was water bearing. The discovery is estimated to be between 15 and 20 million barrels of oil equivalent recoverable resources. Extensive data acquisition and sampling was performed. No production test was carried out.

The licensees will consider infrastructure solution for processing of gas-condensate from David at the Heimdal field and further export.

The well is the first in production licence 102C and was drilled to a vertical depth of 3045 m below sea level and terminated in the Hegre formation of Triassic age. The water depth is 119 meter. The well is now being suspended.

The well 25/5-7 was drilled with the semi-submersible Ocean Vanguard. The rig is moving to production licence 029 in the Sleipner-area to drill well 15/6-11 (Operator is ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Norway AS).
