CNPC puts into operation the entire gas processing system at Iraq’s Al-Ahdab Oilfield
On November 7 in Iraq, CNPC’s Al-Ahdab project delivered the first tank of LPG, marking the full operation of the field’s associated gas processing system , which has been completed in only 16 months, 3 years ahead of contracted time limit.

In November 2008, CNPC signed a service contract on the development of Al-Ahdab Oilfield with Iraq's Ministry of Oil. In 2011, a 6Mt/a oil production capacity was built and the phase-I gas processing system became operational at Al-Ahdab. The LPG production system is a major part of the phase-II system with a daily capacity of 400 cubic meters, including two 2,000-m3 LPG spherical tanks, one LPG loading station with six truck places, and auxiliaries as well as the safety control system.

LPG delivery from Al-Ahdab ahead of schedule will help to cover energy shortage in Iraq, especially in Wasit governorate, and is significant in improving the quality of life of local people, enhancing social stability and protecting the environment.
