Recently, PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company conducted formation testing of Well Daye 1H located in Liangping District, Chongqing, and obtained a high-yield oil flow, which revealed a new layer series enriching shale gas reserves.

This is China's first major breakthrough made in shale gas exploration in the Permian Wujiaping Formation, and is also a significant discovery in shale gas exploration in a new zone, new realm and new layer in the Sichuan Basin. The drilling results show that the high-yield layered shale reservoir obtained from Well Daye 1H has good lateral continuity and stability, high quality and a high gas content. The favorable exploration zone covers 2,885 square kilometers, with estimated resources of nearly one trillion cubic meters.
