Clough AMEC awarded ORM contract for Wheatstone offshore facility, Australia
AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, today announced that the Clough AMEC joint venture has been awarded a contract valued in excess of AU$30 million for the Operability, Reliability and Maintainability (ORM) component of Chevron’s Wheatstone offshore facility offshore Western Australia.

The scope of work involves building the maintenance database, assuring operational readiness for the offshore facility, including writing of all operations procedures, all training and development programmes, and operations engineering and support services. The work will be performed by Clough AMEC, with support from AMEC’s specialist ‘Performance Improvement’ team.

Work will commence immediately and will last approximately three and a half years. At peak the project will employ over 50 people.

“This strategic award reinforces the collaborative strength of Clough AMEC, particularly in the area of performance improvement," said AMEC’s Regional Director of Australia and South East Asia, Steve Ciccone. “We look forward to delivering long-term solutions for Chevron on this important contract.”

Clough’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gallagher said: “With the Australian oil and gas industry moving from the construction to operations phase, this is a strategically important contract which represents further growth in our Commissioning and Asset Support business, which was awarded the Wheatstone Hook-up and Commissioning contract earlier in the year. We will work with our long-term strategic partner AMEC to assure operational readiness for this important Australian project and our valued client Chevron.”

The Wheatstone project is a joint venture between Chevron, Apache, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Shell and Kyushu Electric Power Company. When completed in 2015, the Wheatstone Processing platform will be one of Australia's largest offshore facilities with a topsides weight of about 37,000 tonnes. The topsides will be transported by barge to the offshore installation site 225 kilometres (140 miles) from the Onslow coast, and installed onto the substructure using a float-over procedure. The platform topsides have a total deck area of 20,000 square metres and include primary processing equipment and facilities.
