Petrofac, the international oil & gas facilities service provider, has been awarded a new contract in Equatorial Guinea for the provision of project management and engineering support services to ongoing modifications and new projects for Equatorial Guinea LNG Operations, S.A. (EG LNG) within the Punta Europa Plant facility, Bioko Island.
The contract with EG LNG heralds a major milestone for Petrofac’s Brownfield business as it enters the global LNG modifications market. EG LNG Train 1 delivered its first LNG cargo in May 2007, positioning EG LNG as a competitive force in the Atlantic basin.
EG LNG awarded the contract following Brownfield’s strong performance for Marathon, which is the majority shareholder in EG LNG, in the UK and Equatorial Guinea. A team of Brownfield engineers has already been deployed to Equatorial Guinea where Petrofac’s core activities will be engineering, construction and project management.
Bill Bayliss, vice president of Petrofac Brownfield, said: “This is a significant award for Brownfield and is testament to our strong working relationship with Marathon. Equatorial Guinea is a challenging environment for our team but I am confident we will deliver successfully and continue to grow with EG LNG and Marathon in the region.”
Brownfield’s current work in Equatorial Guinea includes an upgrade of the existing waste incinerator system, along with further upgrades and improvements to the existing plant infrastructure. Brownfield will also use its own cutting edge technology, integrated 3D design and laser design to accomplish the corporate goal of ‘designs that work and can be built’.
