Baker Hughes Inaugurates New Subsea Manufacturing Facility, Strengthening North Sea Capabilities
  - Norwegian facility will manufacture critical offshore energy infrastructure
  - Dusavik site, near Stavanger, powered by 100% renewable energy sources

Baker Hughes, an energy technology company, on Wednesday inaugurated its new Subsea Services Center of Excellence and manufacturing plant in Dusavik, near Stavanger, in Norway. The purpose-built, 49,000-square-meter facility enhances the company’s ability to support the North Sea and global offshore energy sector’s adoption of advanced, efficient subsea production systems and infrastructure.

The facility supports all phases of subsea projects, from manufacturing subsea production trees and wellheads to the comprehensive repair, maintenance and upgrade of subsea equipment, including control systems. It also acts as the hub for offshore production services, enabling installation, intervention and decommissioning activities.

"The North Sea continues to play an indispensable role in Europe's energy security and provides an affordable, reliable and sustainable source of hydrocarbons, especially during times of geopolitical uncertainty,” said Baker Hughes Executive Vice President of Oilfield Services & Equipment Amerino Gatti. "Norway offers a shining example of how countries can leverage smart policy and innovative technology to balance oil and gas development with the ongoing need to decarbonize. With the opening of this facility, Baker Hughes is helping to bolster the resilience of the North Sea energy sector today and into the future.”

The Dusavik facility features a 12,000-square-meter workshop, multiple testing bays, and the capability to recreate pressures up to 22,500 psi, enabling Baker Hughes engineers to test equipment for the most demanding of subsea conditions. The Subsea Services Center of Excellence will also be powered entirely by renewable energy, lowering the carbon footprint of its operations.

The opening of the Dusavik facility reinforces Baker Hughes’ presence in the North Sea, where the company operates multiple sites across the offshore energy value chain. In the United Kingdom, Baker Hughes’ manufacturing facilities in Montrose and Newcastle supply subsea trees and flexible pipe systems for operators around the globe. The company inaugurated its Centre of Excellence for Plug & Abandonment in Norway in 2025.
