AMEC awarded a five-year brownfield topside projects contract by Talisman Energy (UK) Limited
AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has been appointed by Talisman Energy (UK) Limited to provide brownfield engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services in support of their UK brownfield topsides projects.

AMEC will provide these services under a five-year ‘call-off’ contract which will cover major capital projects. The value of the contract has not been announced.

The contract is part of Talisman’s planned major investment in their portfolio of oil and gas assets in the North Sea and will focus on the company’s two core operating areas in the UK: the Northern Business Area and the Central Business Area, which together include 42 fields.

The contract has an option for a two-year extension and has already commenced with the verification of the FEED (front end engineering design) for the new bridge-linked platform brownfield scope and upgrade of the existing Montrose Alpha platform. This is designed to maximise recovery from the Montrose field and extend field life until 2030. The multi-million pound Montrose brownfield services will be delivered by a team from AMEC’s Aberdeen offices, with about 200 onshore and offshore personnel at peak.

“I am delighted that a strong reputation for delivery and a focus on continual improvement have led to this award,” said John Pearson, AMEC’s Group President, Europe. “We have enviable brownfield expertise, with the ability to inject new life into mature assets, and this contract enables us to build a long-term relationship with Talisman who are investing heavily in the future of the North Sea.”
