Description (En) : AK Steel Ltd, was founded in 1924 as Armco Ltd in Letchworth, Herts.

In September 1999 our parent company Armco Inc. merged with AK Steel, Middletown, Ohio, one of the leading US producers of steel mill products for the automotive, household appliances, and construction industry.

It was through this merger that the name Armco was changed to AK Steel Ltd in March 2000.

AK Steel is market leader in the USA for electrical steels, stainless chromium sheets, and stainless aluminum coated sheets especially for exhaust systems in the automotive industry.
