Aibel wins Gudrun contract
Aibel has been awarded the FEED contract for Gudrun Phase 2 Water Injection. The contract with Equinor also includes an option for the actual implementation (EPCI).

The FEED phase (Front End Engineering Design) starts immediately at Aibel’s headquarters in Stavanger and in Haugesund. The project will involve 45-60 people until delivery in June 2019. The FEED contract is valued at around NOK 60 million.

The main objective of the project, Gudrun Phase 2 Water Injection, is to increase and extend recovery from the reservoir. In the FEED, Aibel will ensure maturation of the chosen concept for water injection into the reservoir. The contract includes study work related to new equipment and pipes for the water injection system. Additionally, Aibel will work on solutions for integration, hook-up and installation of this on the Gudrun platform.

“The award is a vote of confidence from Equinor and confirms our sound expertise and competitiveness. We have extensive experience with this type of FEED study and major modification contracts on the Norwegian continental shelf. At the same time we are very familiar with the Gudrun platform, so I’m convinced that we will deliver with regard to all parameters,” says President and CEO of Aibel, Mads Andersen.

In the summer of 2013, Aibel delivered the platform deck for Gudrun after being responsible for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI).

The possible implementation phase has an estimated value of approximately NOK 400 million and will commence immediately after conclusion of the FEED in the summer of 2019. In this phase, the project will involve around 160 people at its peak both onshore and on the installation offshore. Necessary fabrication will be carried out at Aibel’s yard in Haugesund.
