Aibel awarded contracts for electrification of the Sleipner and Gina Krog fields
The contracts have a total value of approximately NOK 600 million and will employ 230 employees over a two-year period.

In October 2019, Equinor awarded Aibel a FEED contract (Front-End Engineering Design) for electrification of Sleipner. The contract has now been extended to an EPCIC contract (engineering, procurement, construction, installation and completion).

The EPCIC contract brings approximately 170 full-time equivalents over a two-year period at Aibel's office in Stavanger and at the yard in Haugesund. In addition, procurement of equipment from subcontractors are expected to be in the range of NOK 150 million. The contract is subject to final regulatory approval of the amended plan for development and operation.

"Again, we are proud to gain the trust of Equinor to contribute to the transformation to cleaner and more sustainable operation on the Norwegian continental shelf. We have a lot of expertise and experience to draw on in order to ensure good deliveries in this area," says President and CEO of Aibel, Mads Andersen.

For example, Aibel has already built phase 1 of the Johan Sverdrup field's onshore power plant at Haugsneset. The company is now well underway with phase two, and at the same time, Aibel is also building the Johan Sverdrup processing platform P2, which will be a receiving terminal of electricity for the electrification of the entire Utsira High. In addition, Aibel has in recent years conducted several electrification studies for Equinor.

Equinor and its licensing partners have also made an investment decision on electrification of Gina Krog and have in this connection also awarded Aibel the EPCIC contract for completing the work on electrification of Gina Krog.

This contract results in approximately 60 full-time equivalents over one and a half year. This work will also be carried out from Aibel's office in Stavanger and the yard in Haugesund.

The plan is for Sleipner and Gina Krog to be connected to the power from shore area solution for the Utsira High by the end of 2022.
