Petróleos Mexicanos obtained the approval of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) for the assignment of a new area that includes a portion to the southwest of the Nobilis field and of the Chachiquin exploration prospect. This area is located in the Cinturón Plegado Perdido area, to the south of the maritime border with the United States, in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The Perdido area has the greatest deep water oil production potential in the country.
This new assignment gives the Nobilis-Maximino farm-out a greater certainty and an increased financial feasibility to the projects to be developed in the area, as an integrated development is being created. It is estimated that, over the next six to eight years, the Nobilis-Maximino block will reach a production that will exceed 150 thousand barrels a day or crude oil equivalent. Therefore, the new assignment will allow for the promotion of the Pemex strategy of establishing farm-outs or joint ventures in deep waters, to attract new investments and share the financial and technological risks to achieve a greater profitability.
The Ministry of Energy will soon issue the corresponding assignment title for the Chachiquin area and the portion to the south of Nobilis.
