New gas find for RWE Dea in North El Amriya concession
RWE Dea Egypt has announced a further gas find in the North El Amriya concession. The company, as operator, holds a 100% stake in this concession.

The NEA 4x strike is about six kilometres east of the NEA 3x find confirmed in January in the offshore concession North El Amriya, some 40 kilometres north of the city of Alexandria. The well was drilled to a final depth of 3,320 metres and hit a gas reservoir in the Miocene layer in the Abu Maadi formation with a thickness of 58 metres.

A production test was successfully carried out with production volumes of up to 25.000 mscf/d. “This renewed find reflects the immense potential of this concession,” said Ralf to Baben, Chief Operating Officer of RWE Dea AG. “We will now carry out additional work on evaluating the NEA 4x find.” In the North El Amriya concession, RWE Dea is operator with a share of 100%.

RWE Dea and its predecessor organisation have been operating in the upstream segment in Egypt since as far back as 1974 has been producing oil in the Gulf of Suez for almost three decades now. In recent years, the Company encountered several major gas strikes in Egypt and has substantially expanded its activities by acquiring additional concessions. At present, RWE Dea holds a total of 12 onshore and offshore concessions in Egypt.
