Decal and San Marco Petroli plan to build a LNG Terminal in Porto Marghera
Decal SpA, in joint venture with San Marco Petroli, has successfully completed the feasibility study for the construction in Porto Marghera (Italy) of a 32.000 mᶟ LNG import terminal able to receive feeder ships up to 30.000 mᶟ.

The terminal is designed for LNG distribution to be used as low emission truck fuel for communities not connected to the national gas network and for ship bunkering.

The total capacity will be of 32.000 mᶟ in a full containment 30.000 mᶟ atmospheric tank and two “bullet” horizontal pressure vessels of 1000 mᶟ each.

The terminal will be equipped with:
- A berth for LNG carrier ships from 7.500 to 30.000 mᶟ suitable for ships up to 65.000 mᶟ in ordinary weather conditions. The berthing will be carried out at “Decal 1” quay which was completely renewed in 2016.
- A berth for 1000 mᶟ LNG barges.
- Up to five loading lanes for LNG tanker trucks.
- At a second stage of the project a railway connection for LNG train loading.

For boil off gas (BOG) management the plant will adopt a combination of the following installations:
- A compressor station for BOG injection to the national gas network.
- A BOG reliquefaction package.
- Pressure storage tanks to store BOG peaks that exceed reliquefaction maximum capacity.
The plant is not designed for re-gasification: the possible connection to the gas network is only intended for safety and environmental reasons thus avoiding flaring or venting to the atmosphere with the added benefit of using emissions for local consumption.
