Duro Felguera has won a contract in Chile for 175 million dollars, awarded by Octopus LNG SpA. The project is called Penco Lirquén LNG Terminal, and will be delivered by DF on a turnkey basis. It consists of the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up for an offshore maritime Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification terminal island. The terminal will be prepared to receive, store and regasify LNG and to transfer natural gas to land, by means of an underwater and land based gas duct. According to the delivery deadline specified in the conditions, the project will have an estimated delivery date in June 2018.

Located in Concepción Bay (Region 8 of Chile), the new terminal will be capable of berthing two ships, one of them an FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) permanently berthed and connected to the terminal, which will store and regasify the LNG; and a second transport vessel, which will supply the FSRU ship with LNG. The regasified gas will be taken on land via a duct partly underwater and partly on land, which will be linked to the existing natural gas network to supply a major part of the industrial and residential sectors in the region. The project's natural gas emission capacity will be 15 million cubic metres per day.

In just one week, therefore, DF has won two significant contracts in Chile for a total value of over 200 million dollars, and if we calculate for the year to date the figure goes up to 320 million. The first of these projects was announced on Friday 25 September and forms part of the Puerto Ventanas S.A. business plan and consists of the extension, improvement and revamping of the new Copper Concentrate Loading System the company has in Bahía de Quintero (132 kilometres from Santiago de Chile). We should also point out that the two projects are independent of each other.
